In line with the 77th JSOC vision of bringing tactical gameplay to a broad player base, we are now pushing a major update and revamp of our player class system.

We are taking a step towards a gameplay focusing more towards tactical gameplay and teamwork. To facilitate this playstyle, we have adjusted the class system to give every class a unique role to fulfil.

In the following list, we will go through every class and what makes them unique within our new class system:

Squad leaders:
The squad leader is meant to lead the squad and communicate with other squad leaders, support elements, HQ and Pilots. To emphasise their role as the primary coordinator, they are the only squad member able to carry a laser designator. This will give the squad leaders the ability to coordinate with support elements and laser designate when needed.
The squad leader is one of two classes able to use rifles equipped with a 40mm launcher. They will be able to use 40mm smoke and flairs to mark targets for support elements and conceal the squad's movement.
To give the squad leaders an extra tool to defend the squad against light vehicles they are able to carry rocket-propelled grenade launchers.

Squad leader in short:
  • Only player class able to use the Laser designators.
  • One of two player classes able to use the 40mm launchers to deploy smoke and flairs.
  • One of two classes able to carry Light AT (RPG type weapons)

Medic:
The medic role is to keep the squad alive. To help them in this role, they are the only player class able to revive a friendly player that's down and heal an injured soldier to 100% health.
The medic needs a medkit and first aid kits to be able to heal and revive friendly players.

Medic in short:
  • Only class able to revive and heal players to 100% health with the use of a medkit and a first aid kit.

AT rifleman:
The AT rifleman is a rifleman specially trained in handling lock-on anti-tank weaponry, to reflect this special training the AT rifleman is the only player class able to carry the PCML and Titan MPRL Compact. To be able to carry the large missiles for their launchers, the AT rifleman will be able to equip the carryall backpack.
The primary role of the AT rifleman is to keep his squad safe from heavy vehicle threats.

AT rifleman in short:
  • Only class able to use the guided AT weapons to protect the squad from enemy vehicles.
  • One of two classes able to carry the carryall backpack

AA rifleman:
The AA rifleman is a rifleman specially trained in handling lock-on anti-air weaponry, to reflect this special training the AA rifleman is the only player class able to carry the Titan MPRL. To be able to carry the large missiles for their launchers, the AA rifleman will be able to equip the carryall backpack.
The primary role of the AA rifleman is to keep his squad safe from enemy air threats.

AA rifleman in short:
  • Only class able to use AA weaponry to protect the squad from enemy aircraft.
  • One of two classes able to carry the carryall backpack

Auto rifleman:
The auto rifleman is the squad's designated heavy gunner, the primary role is to lay down suppressive fire and pin enemy forces so to make it possible for friendly squads to manoeuvre around them. To give the auto rifleman a unique role this slot is the only class able to carry machine guns.

Auto rifleman in short:
  • Only class able to support the squad with machine guns.

Grenadier:
The Grenadier is an important asset to a squad. To make them into a unique player class we have made it so that they are one of two classes able to carry a rifle equipped with a 40mm grenade launcher. To add little more speciality to them, they are the only class able to use the 40mm HE rounds, this makes them into a heavy hitter in close to medium range engagements.

Grenadier in short:
  • Only class able to use a rifle with the 40mm launcher HE rounds.

Marksman:
The marksman is the squad's primary long range rifleman, to this end, he will be the only one to use scopes over 2x magnification and marksman rifles.
To tie into the longer range capability, the marksman will be the only class able to use the NVS, this will give the marksman a higher magnification scope to use during night operations.

Marksman in short:
  • Provide a squad with long range engagement capabilities.
  • Only player class able to use the NVS scope.

Engineer:
The engineer is a specialist class able to perform multiple tasks involving vehicles and explosives. The engineer is a well-rounded squad member vital for the survival of a squad in a hostile AO. To give the engineer a unique array of tasks in the battlefield they are now the only class able to carry explosives, mine detectors and to use a toolkit.
They are explosives specialists. If they are equipped with a toolkit and a mine detector they can detect and defuse enemy explosives and mines. With the toolkit, they will also be able to repair damaged vehicles.
As the squad's only explosives specialist, the engineer is the only class able to carry and use explosives.

Engineer in short:
  • Only class able to detect enemy mines and explosives with mine detector
  • Only class able to defuse enemy mines and explosives with the toolkit
  • Only class able to use explosives to destroy targets
  • Only class able to repair damaged vehicles with the toolkit
  • Only class able to unflip vehicles turned upside down

Rifleman:
As a step to adjust the server balance, we are introducing a new player class on the server.
This class is called ‘Rifleman’, the rifleman can carry the basic rifle selection available and in addition, he will be able to carry and use light AT (RPG type weapons).
The rifleman is a supplement to the squad, in addition to protecting the squad from light armoured vehicles with their RPG, they can be used to carry extra ammunition for other heavily-laden classes like AT rifleman and Auto rifleman.

Rifleman in short:
  • One of two classes able to carry Light AT (RPG type weapons)

We hope this will cover most of the questions any player might have about the basic class system.

Best regards
Karlsson.

In line with the recent request from our public players, the 77th JSOC is now releasing our Class system restriction list.

This document will provide all public players with a complete list of what they can or can not use with the different classes on our servers.
77th JSOC Class Restrictions

Keep in mind, all restrictions are continuously altered and adjusted to provide the gameplay we wish for on our servers. The linked list should reflect what is restricted or not on the servers and we are trying to update it with any change we do to the server class restrictions.

If you find any restrictions on the server not corresponding to the restriction list, please post a bug report in the bug report section of our forums and our development team will look into the matter when they have time.

As many of you may know the 77th JSOC are currently working very hard on a major update for our mission file, something that we would like to be able to give you all as fast as possible. However, in the meantime, Bohemia released the Tanks DLC and with it some new anti-tank weapons systems, to allow for our players to play around with these and familiarize themselves with them on the servers we have decided to push an update to our restriction system.

For an extended period of time, the 77th JSOC have been looking over the initial release of our restriction file and how to adjust it to improve the type of gameplay we strive to deliver to our players. We have been observing the servers to see how they are played and listened to our community for feedback about the restrictions put into place, trying to incorporate their ideas and suggestions into the improvement process we are currently working on.

The following list will cover the major updates. For a complete list of the restrictions please check the restrictions spreadsheet via the following link: 77th JSOC Class Restrictions

MX SW and SPAR-16S
The MX SW and SPAR-16S are both regarded as auto rifles and have been reclassified for the AR class only.

MXM
The MXM is a 6.5mm marksman rifle, our restriction system is now reflecting this by restricting it to Marksman class only.

Autorifleman scopes
The Autorifleman have had an adjustment of available scopes to non-magnified variants only.

Marksman scopes
The most powerful Marksman's scopes will now be the DMS and MOS.

AT Rifleman
The new launchers from the tanks DLC have been added to the AT class, this means that in addition to the old AT systems the AT class will be able to carry the new MAAWS and the Vorona.

Vests
Some minor adjustments have been done to different vests, these are as follows:
  • Engineer can use the Coyote and Olive EOD vest.
  • The pilot can use the Leg straps and Multi-Pocket Vest.

Backpacks
The following adjustments were made to the backpacks restrictions:
  • NATO variants of the AL-6 UAV backpacks have been unrestricted.
  • Leg Straps have been unrestricted.
  • Viper harness have been restricted to AT class only.

Facewear
The following items have been restricted:
  • Blue, White and yellow Respirators
  • Safety googles with and without earpiece

Minor bugs adjusted:
  • Fixed bug: SL able to carry explosives.
  • Fixed bug: Any class able to carry Training mine or Mine dispenser.
  • Fixed bug: Pilots/HQ/UAV unable to carry carryall at the base.

I would like to remind everyone that this is a announcement post to make it easy for our players to see whenever there is a update to the restriction system. For this reason we would like to ask players not to comment on the updates in this thread.

With that said, we would like to thank all who have provided feedback and suggestions and remind them that there is a forum section dedicated to feedback and suggestions. If you want to coment, suggest or discuss changes to the restrictions, the classes or any other aspects of our servers we kindly ask you to post a thread there.

Best regards
Karlsson.
